Dear Sir,

I have for acknowledgment your letter
of the 28th ultimo, enclosing a statement of the expenditure
incurred by the Stefansson Arctic Exploration and Development
Company,Limited, in connection with the Relief Expedition
to Wrangel Island in August,1922, for which purpose the
Government advanced the sum of $3000.

Your letter and statement can hardly be
considered a complete reply to my letter to Mr.Stefansson
of the 19th December last, copy of which I enclose. I enclose
also a copy of Mr.Stefansson’s preliminary reply of the 27th
December, and as I understand Captain Joseph Bernard has
forwarded a detailed report to Mr.Stefansson and, further, has
made a report to Mr.A.J.Taylor, I would like to have as early
as possible a complete statement from your Company covering
the whole matter.

Regarding the expenditure of $900,,
"Wages of members of the Expedition”, this is not clearly
understood, and perhaps when you are forwarding the full re-
port of the Company, as asked for above, you might add further
explanation of this item.
