Dear Stefansson:-

I was sorry not to find you in
New York on my arrival, but I hope that you are having
a successful tour and I will see you towards the end
of March.

On my way through Winnipeg last week
I had a long and interesting talk with Sir James Aikens
and also with Mr.Dafoe of the Manitoba Free Press, and
as a result of our discussion we decided not to announce
the Essay Competition until after we had had an expression
of opinion on several points from the majority of the
Principals of our Canadian Universities. We also felt
that the prize money of two thousand dollars might well
be divided into two sets of prizes and two parallel com-
petitions conducted at the same time.

I was delegated to prepare a letter to
be sent out to the Canadian Universities and I am attach-
ing a copy with its enclosures and have written to Sir
James to-day, a copy of which letter I am also attaching.
Please let me have as early as you can your criticisms
and suggestions of the proposed letter to the Canadian
Universities. I shall not send it out until hearing
from you. Mote my new address in Toronto.
