My Dear Stefansson,
Your letter of the 12th with cheque for
$1,000.00(one thousand dollars) safely received this
morning. I have not yet received Sir Edmond Walker's
remittance of $500.00, but presume this will come in
the course of a day or two. In the meantime the
$1,500.00 is now in Lomen Bros. hands.
Brown is very much obliged to you for your
instructions to Crawford, and has made all arrangements
at Nome so that Crawford will have no difficulty in
getting his wires to Brown accepted.
I have heard nothing further from Ottawa
except the enclosed letter from Heidman, dated August
11th. No doubt you are perfectly right that we should
continue our occupation of Wrangel Island, and I hope
Lomen Bros. will be successful in either persuading
