Mr. V. Stefansson,
American Geographical Society,
New York, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Stefansson;

On Saturday last, the Canadian Bank
of Commerce
here advised us that they had received $500.
from Sir Edmund Walker, which was transferred to the Company,
the company giving Sir Edmund Walker a demand note at 6% for
this money.

We have also received advice from P.
Marchand
, Finance Controller, Ottawa, that they have telegraphed
to the Bank of Montreal - $3,000., but they telegraphed
to you personally, and are wiring Ottawa to have them tele-
graph the Bank to make it payable to the Company, otherwise,
it would be very difficult to get the money, you being so
far away.

I will not touch any of this money. Will
keep it in the Bank for the purpose for which you intended,
with the exception of sending a cheque to Nome to cover the
wages of Ada Black Jack. We owe her to the end of this month
approximately $500. and think it advisable to pay this , for
should she return to Nome, and Ada Black Jack finds the money
has not been placed to her credit, she may raise trouble.

Yours very truly,
John Anderson
