Dear Mr. Anderson:

Hold any Wrangel Island mail until the
first sailing of the steamer "Victoria" from Seattle or
the first sailing of whatever boat carries the Nome mail
nex t summer. There is no point in sending the mail by
the present combined ship and sledge route, for there is
that much more chance of lose and the men cannot get it
before summer anyway.
