Jafet Lindeberg, Esq., c/o Scandia Pacific Engine Co., O a k l a n d , CAL.

Dear Mr. Lindeberg

Let me first express my thanks and appreciation for the hospitality extended me by Mrs. Lindeberg and yourself last Thursday evening in San Francisco. It was a special pleasure to me to have an opportunity of meeting you under such pleasant circumstances, and I hope that the future will bring us together often.

I have just wired Mr. Stefansson and written to him, as per copies attached and I think my letter and telegram give all the information I have at present in regard to the new company, but I hope to be able to report fully in the course of the next day or so in the matter of the best thing to be done in regard to the schooner "ORIAN".

I was agreeably surprised to find that the extra cost of incorporation for a company of $100,000. over that of $20,000. was such a small amount, for I had in mind, when talking with Mr. Stefansson, that it would run into several hundreds of dollars. Seeing that the difference between the two amounts was immaterial, I am drawing papers of incorporation on the basis of $100,000. without further discussion either with you or Mr. Stefansson.

I was especially interested in what you told me in regard to the progress you are making with the marine Diesel engines, and I intend following your efforst in this direction very closely. I find, however, on my return to Vancouver that my brother, E. G. Taylor, has already left on some business in the Lillooet district of British Columbia, that may possibly occupy him

Lindeberg, Esq. -2- .

for the next three months. He will, therefore, not be available until after this work is done, to come to Oakland , but I have written to him to-day, telling him that, if it can be arranged, I am anxious for him to spend some months in your factory, and in any case I am looking forward to being in San Francisco again in the near future and accompanying you to your works and learning at first hand what you have accomplished.

I am also looking forward to receiving the photographs and other literature in regard to your marine Diesel engine, for, although I do not see any immediate prospect of business here, I am a believer, like yourself, in preparing as far ahead as possible.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon, and trusting that both you and Mrs. Lindeberg are well, I remain, with all kind regards,

Yours sincerely, AJT.
