Description

George Borup (1885-1912). Geologist and explorer. Yale 1907. Borup participated in Robert E. Peary's 1908-1909 North Polar Expedition aboard the S.S. Roosevelt. His book, "A Tenderfoot with Peary," was published in 1911. Borup was appointed Assistant Curator, in the American Museum of Natural History's Department of Geology and Invertebrate Paleontology on Dec. 20, 1911, and was chosen to lead the 1913-1917 Crocker Land Expedition. He drowned on April 28, 1912, in a boating accident on Long Island Sound.
