VERSO:

Hanover, N.H., March 6, 1943.

At a special meeting of the Dartmouth Cemetery Associa-
tion
, called by the Vice-president at 4:30 P.M. at the home
of Mr. A. D. Storrs, there were present the following
directors, R.J. Putnam, A.D. Storrs and F.P. Lord, and
the Treasurer, D.C. Rennie.

The following motion was made and voted unani-
mously:

Voted, that the Dartmouth Cemetery Association
requests that the Town of Hanover, New Hampshire,
buy the property of this Association and hereby
offers to sell this property to the Town of Hanover

sell for a nominal consideration the land and all
the other assets of the Dartmouth Cemetery Association,
a public corporation, to the Town of Hanover, New
Hampshire.

This vote followed a brief summary of the facts
known to all the directors, by Superintendent Storrs,
that the funds of the Association are inefficient today
and for some time past to maintain the necessary
care demanded by the cemetery. This is due to the
deterioration of some of its funds but more to the greater
cost of maintenance as a result of the higher cost of
living. It is also known that the officers of the
Town of Hanover, already operating another cemetery,

RECTO:

and well aware of the fact, as stated above are prepared, if so
voted at the town meeting, to take over the care of this cemetery,
the first in this part of Hanover.

The meeting then adjourned.

F. P. Lord, Sec'y.

Note: At the Town Meeting held on Mar. 9, 1943
R. J. Putnam presented the care of this Association before the
voters, leading up to the need for the Town to take over the
cemetery's management. The Town then voted that this
transfer of the Dartmouth Cemetery to the Town be effected,
after proper legal adjustments were made.
