Meridian, Sept. 5./'66.

Hon. Benj. G. Humphreys } Gov. of Miss., Jackson. }

Dear Sir:

I am just in receipt of Mr. Granberry's letter, forwarded yesterday by you. It is upon a subject which has already been under considera-tion in the Board of Trustees. We desire to secure the removal of the said children ??to the Home as soon as practicable.

If there is any way in which the State can assist us in providing for such destitution, the Board is satisfied that you will have it done. The mothers of children frequently insist upon accompany-ing them, & we are not prepared to sustain such.

Very Truly & Resp'y,

L. A. Duncan, Sec'y.
