Col. R. O Reynolds:

My dear Sir:

We learn this Evening that there seems to be a probability of the making of Judge Kilpatrick Judge of our Circuit Court. I have this to say to you and I am satisfied that you know the fact: we have several, I might say, many abler lawyers in this District than he is. Urge it upon our Govenor in whom we all are

proud to confide to give us a man of the very best attainments in the law. I could mention sev-eral; for instance, there are Gholson and Acker old, tried and honored, I need not name others. The mere fact that Houghton has been taken as Chancellor from this town should not have anything to do with the matter. The idea is to get the Judges for well qualified if they should all have to be selected from the same County.
