To His Excellency, the Governor of Mississippi.

Referring to my letter of 14, September enquiring to what department of your state government this Bureau should address itself in quest of statistical information, to which, by the way, I have as yet received no reply; I would be greatful if you would direct to be mailed to the Bureau, the last statement issued under your govern-ment setting forth the annual amount of taxation rais-ed for state purposes, if such there be.

With the kind co-operation of the State and foreign governments this Bureau can be ena-bled to collect and prepare data of great scientific value, and it is hoped that such co-operation may be confidently relied upon. In return the Bureau will be happy at all,
