Hon B G Humphries
Dr Sir,
My brother John G Paxton died at this place in 1859 leaving a small estate in lands which by his will he devised to our sister Mrs R E M Buckner and her children, I qualified as and making me his Executor I qualified as such, and have done the best I could for the Devi-sees charging no fees & expecting no profit. I arrived at home (from the Confiderate service in Va) last September, finding my buisness of every kind much embarrassed. On the opening of the Probate Court of this county citations were issued against all Exrs & Admrs and against myself among the number to render

annual accounts, owing to the general derangement of my papers and buisness of every kind I did not get my accounts in until I had been find $50. and The citation was not on the special motion of any one no one has been damaged, my accounts are all in approved by the court showing a large balance due me for cash ad-vances to the estate. The fine would be remitted by the court but having been made absolute & the term expired the court has no jurisdiction
I respectfully ask of you an order remitting the fine on payment of costs
Respy A J Paxton
I recommend the remission of the fine above referred to.
