Description

The Confederate Surgeon-General’s Office was the head of the Confederate Army Medical Department. Established in 1861, the office was responsible for the oversight of medical personnel, medical supplies, and medical care standards for the Confederate Army. Dr. Samuel P. Moore, a former U.S. Army physician, became the Surgeon-General for the Confederate Army in March 1861 and served in that role until the collapse of the Confederacy in 1865. (Wikipedia)
