Description

Located in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Southern Railroad was a railroad company charted on February 23, 1846, but its first charter lapsed and no construction was completed under it. The Southern Railroad was reincorporated on March 9, 1850 and operated until it was sold in 1880. ("History of Alabama and Vicksburg R.
