6404 Thomomys (male sign) 130 g. 227x73x31x5. In damp sand
in gorge between boulders.
6505 Monterey (?) Hermit Thrush (male sign) ad. 26.5g.(fat). In cascara bush.
6406 Junco (male sign) ad. 21.0g. Shot from small pine, among
manzanita patches.

6407 Scapanus (male sign) 40.9g. 146x34x18.5.(sic) "Scooped" out of "run" in gravelly soil.
6408 Microtus (female sign) 46.0g. 162x45x24x11. Trapped under saw-grass near creek.
6409 Neotoma fuscipes (male sign) 140g. 343x158x34x25. Trapped at
"house" (chiefly of pine needles, cones and twigs) in midst of
manzanita thicket.
6410 Tanager (male sign) im. 28.7g. Shot in pine; another seen in
cascara bush.
6411 Peromyscus maniculatus (female sign) 13.4g. 143x65x19x14. Under edge of boulders in dry slope.
6412 Peromyscus maniculatus (female sign) 15.7g. 145x71x19x16. Under edge of boulders in dry slope.
6413 Mountain Quail (female sign) } These, the first of the species
6414 Mountain Quail (male sign) }I have seen here, were shot out

the bottom of the gorge where I have my Microtus line of traps. (note applies to 6413 - 6415)
Yesterday it clouded up; also a stought
East wind rose. I had gone to bed outside,
when about 9 it began to rain. I crowded
in to the tent with the equipment and Lamb; and
the rest of the night the wind roared thru
the pines and the rain descended. The latter
proved a blessing; it was still drizzling when
I started out about 6 a.m. , and I shortly
