April 1972- Assistant Director of Public Affairs Dec. 1973 Worked closely with the Vice President for Public Affairs planning and implementing Newsweek's public affairs activities. Department serves as a liasion between business and editorial operations of the magazine. Responsibilities included: planning seminars and programs involving members of Newseek's editorial and publishing staffs before leaders in industry, government, education and the arts; arranging speaking appearances by editors before business-related organizations; representing Newsweek at annual meetings of business and education-related associations; conducting periodic surveys of college editors on social, political and economic issues; arranging visits with Newseek's editors and management for educators, students, foreign journalists, industry leaders at the magazine's headquarters (luncheons, tours, meetings with editors); preparing departmental budget annualy with the Vice President for Public Affairs.

Invited to speak to classes and student assemblies at colleges and high schools; attended high schoo, college and alumni association conferences. Edited and expanded annually a booklet on the history of Newsweek and the functions of its departments for internal and external distribution; wrote publicity releases, newsletters and flyers about speakers bureau and other educational projects. Arranged all tours, luncehons, panels at Newsweek for visiting student groups.
