some wine. Way down
under the ground they
had a fine cooking range,
sink, cupboards, a round
dining room table, pictures
on the walls, and electric
lights. All the comforts
of home. We spent an
hour or more there before
we started for the front
lines again. He took
us back up the little path
that we had come down
from the road on, and
when he got to the edge
of the road he stoped
and looked down toward
the German trenches
then ran across to the
other side into another
