Wednesday December 21, 1921

A good day. Jim hauled some chaff this morning. This evening he shucked corn. Ben worked on the dineing room floor this morning. This evening he went to Strait Stone. I went with him. Kate Harvey come this morning. Kate and I dressed 4 turkeys. One for Jim, one for Marvin, one for Josie, and one for Kate. This evening Marvin come and got his turkey and ham boiler. He had Hazel & Eva with him. I went with him as far as Reynols mail box and walked home. Mollie Reynols was not at home. Hattie Gilbert washed here today. The wind is blowing to night. I reckon they will all blow of the line. Heard today that Mrs Jessie Hutcherson has a son. There is a lot of travlins done today. The school closed today for holiday. Ben[?] has gone to the school house to night.

Thursday December 22, 1921

A colde day partly cloudy. Hailing and snowing tonight. Jim shucked some corn and toated stalks for the cows. Ben sawed wood at Kate Harveys. Brought the engine & saw home tonight. Ben went to Strait Stone tonight. He went for medicine for Mabel. She has a colde and is very hoarse. We are a fraid she will have the croup. Josie ironed today and worked on her cakes some. I got dinner. Denia Blair come a little while. I was glad that she come. Two of the Doss girls come a few minutes. They borrowed a last. Said they wanted to mend shoes. I am sorry that it is weathering. Did hope it would stay good until Jim could get home. We sent Kates turkey to her this morning.

Friday December 23, 1921

A good day. The land was covered with hail and snow but it nearly all melted before night. Ben & Jim did not do much of anything this morning. This evening Ben carried Jim to Gretna on his way to Chatham to spend the holidays with his folks. Josie and Henry went with them. They got home in good time. They bought several things. Among them they got some cow feed. I am so glad of that. Ben is in the basement not trying to stain the floors. Josie made me a nice apron tonight. I am glad of it. I got several Xmas cards from the grand children & friends. I killed 4 chickens and dressed them ready to cook. Two for Jim. Heard to day that Oscar Brumfield is sick. Hope he may soon be well. I do hope that Mabel will soon be well a gain.

Saturday December 24, 1921

A cloudy day. Rain tonight. Ben went to William Gilberts this morning and carried some things for them that Carrie sent and Josie sent some things two for their children. Henry & Ben hunted some this evening. Did not get any game. We boiled some ham. I boiled the last of the hogs feet. Josie baked a cake. She ironed all the morning. Irvin Harvey come this morning and got their cow & little calf. The children has bad colds. They cant hardly wait for Santy to come. They are a sleep now all but Henry. I guess he is a wake. Well I am glad that Xmas is here. Hope nothing bad will happen. I got a nice box of candy from BlacksBurg today & a letter from John & a card from Julia Fergerson.

Sunday December 25, 1921

A rainy day. Not very colde. We all staid at home all day. Irvin Harvey come a few minutes this morning. He brought me a dress that his mother had made for me, a Christmas gift. The children have a good time today with their toys and dolls. I hope they may not have the croup tonight. There has bin very little passing of people today. The roads are bad. I have bin thinkin of all of the children. Wish I could see all of them. I mis Carrie and her folks so much. If the weather stays bad I wont see them in some time. Well I may never see another Xmas. I am not feeling well now.
