Sunday December 11, 1921

A good day. Jim & Ben gave the cows some corn stalks this morning. I got a snack for dinner. Josie dressed the children. We eat before twelve and went to Marvins. Marvin and the three boys brought William Gilbert to Mr Bookers and then come here. They would not eat dinner here. I went with them home. Ben and his folks went on Bens car. I come with Ben back. The children all done very well. Jim staid at home. He done several things. He had a good fire in the range and fire place and had brought water when we got home. Had turned the cow to the calf. We fixed supper and all eat. I am so glad that I got to see Carrie. She seems to be satisfied.

Monday December 12, 1921

A good day. Jim & Ben shucked a shock of corn and gave the stalk to the cows. Then they loaded up the car with Jims scrap meat and sausage, a few chickens and went to Chatham. I think they did fine. They attended to several things and got home before dark. I am very glad that they went. The roads are very good now. Josie scrubed some floors and got dinner. I went to George Blairs. Denia was not at home. She had gone to Altavista with Otho and Sallie. I would of bin glad to see her but I dont blame her. If it was me I think [?] go evry chance I could get. I spent a pleasant evening with the girls. The children went to school today.

Tuesday December 13, 1921

A cool windy day. Jim & Ben shucked some corn. The wind blowed so that they could hardly shuck. I boiled some hogs ears for dinner. Josie made bread & coffee. I put feathers in Josies new bed tick this morning. This evening I went to the store and bought a few things. I walked up there & back. I brought back 7 pounds 6 of coffee & one of soda. I went to see Kate Harvey a few minutes. She was busy fixing up after hog killing. I come by Mollies. They were very busy abought their land & sausage. I did not stay to bother them long. I have bin working on a quilt. Tonight little Mabel is up yet. I hear her talking. 8:30 oclock

Wednesday December 14, 1921

A windy day. Very disagreeable. Ben and Ben hauled some leaves and put in the stable. Alcie Callands washed here today. The clothes most blowed a way. I got them this evening. I have staid at home all day to day. We had turnip salid for dinner and sweet potatoes. Tonight there is two men here say they are Mormon preachers. We dreaded them but they are very pleasant. The children went to school. Josie commenced to change her dress this evening. I comenced to make some sheets. Tonight I have read. Did not try to work any. It is now nearly ten oclock and I must go bed. Oh how I miss Carrie.

Thursday December 15, 1921

A beautiful day. Ben went to Mr Edmons's to saw wood. Was there all day. Jim shucked corn. The Mormon preachers went a way early this morning. I am not sorry that they staid here last night. Josie ironed all the morning. I got dinner. This evening I went to Mr Bookers. Sallie & Isla Blair was there. Evry thing looked very nice up there but oh how I mis Marvin & Carrie. No one knows but my self. I have peiced on a quilt some tonight. Mabel has tried her self tonight and tried Josie. I am sorry for them both and cant them. Jim has a bad cough. I wish he could get well of it. The children went to school to day.
