he was reclassified as missing believed killed in action. In due course his death was officially presumed to have occurred on the 13th October 1942.

A post-war casualty search revealed that Sergeant Watters was buried in the Cemetery at Bruntsbuttelkoog, North West Hamburg. Later he was reinterred in the British Military Cemetery, Kiel.
