Warboys, Huntingdonshire. After crewing up he joined No. 627 Squadron at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, for operational flying as pilot of Mosquito aircraft.
Flight Lieutenant St. John was the pilot of a Mosquito aircraft engaged during the 30th October 1941 in an attack on a target at Walcheren, Holland. He was forced to leave his aircraft by parachute over the target area and was posted as missing. Later information was received that his body had been washed ashore near Ostend, and he was reclassified to killed in action. He was buried in the New Communal Cemetery, Ostend, Belgium.
