413545 Sergeant Stephen Harry ROBINSON.
Father: Mr. H. Robinson of St. Kilda, Dunedin.

Stephen Robinson was born at Dunedin on the 10th April 1914 and received his secondary education at the Otago Boys' High School, passing the Senior Free Place examination. He was employed in a number of capacities, and at the time of applying for enlistment in aircrew in June 1940 was employed by Dalgety and Company Limited at Dunedin.

Sergeant Robinson was enlisted at the Initial Training Wing, Levin on the 15th June 1941 and posted to Taieri late in July, for his elementary flying training. He proceeded to No. 1 Service Flying Training School, Wigram, early in September where he was awarded the flying badge and promoted to the rank of Sergeant on the 29th November. He embarked for the United Kingdom on the 18th December.

Sergeant Robinson arrived at No. 3 Personnel Reception Centre, Bournemouth late in January 1942 and was posted on the 16th February to No. 15 Advanced Flying Unit, Leconfield, Yorkshire. He was a member of the crew of an Oxford aircraft which collided in mid-air with another aircraft near Bowdeswell, Norfolk, on the 24th March 1942, Sergeant Robinson losing his life. He was buried in the village churchyard at Swanton Morley, Norfolk.
