On the night of 20th/21st October, 1943 Warrant Officer Pargeter was the Captain of a Lancaster aircraft, which took off on Air operations over the target of Liepzig, Germany, and failed to return to its base. Nothing further was heard of the aircraft or members of the crew after take-off, and Warrant Officer Pargeter, with all members of the crew, were classified as missing. In due course his death was officially presumed to have occurred on the 21st October, 1943.

A post war casualty search revealed that no subsequent information had been received concerning the aircraft or members of the crew.
