bomber aircraft he took part in twenty one operational flights comprising two anti-submarine patrols, nine shipping strikes, seven offensive patrols, on air sea rescue flights, a torpedo attack on the German warships "Scharnhorst" and "Gneisnau" and an attack on the warship "Prinz Eugen" off the Norwegian Coast.

From this last sortie against the "Prinz Eugen" undertaken on the 17th May, 1942, Flight Sergeant Keeling's aircraft failed to return to its base and all members of the crew including Flight Sergeant Keeling were classified as missing. No news was received and in due course Flight Sergeant Keeling was officially presumed to have lost his life on the 17th May 1942. Enquiries made subsequently by the Missing Research and Enquiry Service led to the conclusion that the aircraft had gone down in the sea and it is therefore assumed that Flight Sergeant Keeling lost his life at se.
