In August, 1946, (redacted a) further information was received from Air Ministry, through the Missing Research and Enquiry Service, and confirmed that the aircraft crashed into a mountain side and added that the scene of the crash was near Rochefort-Montagne, and that F/O Henderson and all the remaining members of the crew, excluding Sgt. Armstrong, were buried in the cemetery of Des Carmes, Clermont Ferrand, France.
Besides F/O Henderson, there were three other R.N.Z.A.F. members of the crew - A/S/Ldr. R.J. Watson, D.F.C., of Southland, F/Sgt. A.S. Jones of Wanganui, and F/Sgt. R.J.I. Melville of Auckland.
