arriving in Egypt on the June 23rd. Late in the month he joined
No, 70 Squadron in the Western desert and from Landing Grounds
there, as 2nd pilot of Wellington aircraft took part in
twenty-two operational flights, the targets including ten
sorties against Tobruk Harbour and Defences, eight attacks
on enemy columns and formations in the Western Desert, two
bombings of enemy airfields in North Africa and an attack on
Candis Airfield in Crete. On the 5th. November he was posted
to the Middle East Training School at A.Q.I.R. Palestine, for his
Captain's course but returned to the Squadron at Landing Ground 106
in the Western Desert on November 24th. From this base he
took part in two further operational flights one against enemy
formations at Marble Arch

Flight Sergeant Albertson lost his life
on the 4th. December 1942 when his aircraft crashed near Bardia,
Libya. He was buried in the Tobruk Military Cemetery.
