Miss Lewis Given Honor
Miss Dunbar contest came to a close Wednesday with the winning class being the 12th grade and its contestant, Ruth Evelyn Lewis, chosen as Miss Dunbar.
The runner ups were as follows: 11th Grade-Barbara Tatum- 2nd place; 8th Grade Juanita Jones-3rd place; 9th Grade-Patricia Powell - 4th place; 10th Grade-Betty Miller-5th place.
The class is sponsored by Ruth Washington, Harold Strong and Mary Driver.
Miss Dunbar and her attendants will highlight the homecoming parade Saturday, which will begin on Paul Street and proceed down First Street to North Shepherd, then from North Shepherd to Second Avenue to Lufkin Avenue, and end at Fire Station No. 1.
The festivities will close Saturday night, at 7:30 p.m. at Panther Stadium with the football game between the Dunbar Tigers and the Henderson Lions in a district game.
