The State of Texas, County of Rusk } Court Court, November term, 1852. To the Honorable John C. Miller, Chief Justice of said county. Your petitioner Allen Rushing, a resident citizen of the county and state aforesaid, would respectfully represent that the following minors are his children: William Rushing [and] John Rushing (both of whom are over fourteen years old), [and] Thomas Rushing, Benjamin Rushing, Joseph Rushing, James N. Rushing, and George Rushing, minors under the age of fourteen years. That said minors own property in the county and state aforesaid consisting of negroes which descended to them from their deceased mother Ann Rushing and formerly wife of said Allen Rushing. He therefore prays your Honorable Court to grant him letters of guardianship of the persons and estates of said minor children at the next term of your Court. Allen Rushing being guardian. Inventory and appraisement. Negroes: appraised value. Sampson: $850.00. Easter: $600.00. Roxy: $200.00. Lewis: $200.00. Laura: $125. Revision. Interest in 2 negroes, Alford and Hope, after death of Allen Rushing. I, Allen Rushing, guardian of the persons and estates of the minor children of Ann Rushing, deceased, do solemnly swear that the above is a full, entire and correct inventory of the property of said minors. Allen Rushing. Sworn to and subscribed before me this 29th day of November 1852. J. S. Swan, Clerk, County Court, Rusk County. We, the undersigned, solemnly swear that the above appraisement of the property of the minor children of Ann Rushing is true and correct and has been made by us according to the best of our skill and ability. Order, November term, 1853. Guardianship of Ann Rushing's heirs. And now at this term of the [Court] comes Allen Rushing, guardian of the heirs of Ann Rushing, deceased, and files his annual report. Which being considered of by the Court, it is ordered by the Court that the same be received and recorded. The State of Texas, County of Rusk } County Court, November term, 1853. To the Honorable John C. Miller, Chief Justice in and for the County of Rusk and Judge of Probates. Your reporter Allen Rushing, guardian of the minor heirs of Ann Rushing, begs leave to make this annual report. Your reporter would report that all the property inventoried is yet in his hands and in good condition. He charges the minors aforesaid the labor of the slaves and use of the property for the expenses of boarding, clothing, doctor bills, and every expense which they have been at, thus making the account of the parties balance at this date.
