The State of Texas, County of Orange } Know all men by these presents that I, Elijah B. Thomas of the sate and county aforesaid, for and in consideration of the love and affection which I have for my wife Catharine Thomas and the heirs of her body by me, do hereby give, grant and convey unto my said wife Catharine Thomas and heirs all my right, title, interest, and claim of and to the following described property, personal and real estate, to wit, a negro girl named Venice, aged twenty years, and all other personal property owned by me or that I may have claim to at this time. Also, I do hereby give unto my said wife Catharine Thomas and heirs by me all my right, title, interest, and claim in and to the place on which I now reside, which is my homestead, purchased by me of W. C. Beard. For the boundaries and so forth of which, will more fully appear by reference to a deed given to me from W. C. Beard and wife. Also, all my right, title, and interest, and claim in and to (640) six hundred and forty acres of land situated in the County of Brazoria on the stream of Chocolate Bayou in said county and state aforesaid. To have and to hold said above-described property with all and singular the rights and privileges thereunto belonging (only reserving to myself the right of issuing said property so long as I may live, but not to dispose
