Will of Harrison Cooper, deceased. Be it remembered that I, Harrison Cooper of the County of Claiborne and State of Mississippi, being weak in body but sound in mind and memory, do constitute, make and ordain this my last will and testament, revoking all former wills and codicils by me made. First, I consign my body to the grave and my soul to him who gave it. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Cooper during her life or widowhood all my property, both real and personal, consisting of one-eighth of a section of land, the [place] wherein I now reside, [and] seven negroes (viz.), George, Susan, Malinda, Chance, Julian, Ferrily, and May, together with all the horses and stock of every kind, household and kitchen furniture, etc. Thirdly, at the death or marriage of my wife, it's my wish that the personal property be sold and the proceeds be equally divided between the lawful heirs of my body, with the exception that the part that would be coming to my daughter Elizabeth Moody

I give to her two sons, Harrison and Byrd Moody. In like manner, the part that would be coming to my daughter Nancy Goush I give to her three children, Eliza, John Jefferson and Harrison Goush. Fourthly, at the death of my wife, the land above-named I give and bequeath to my son William Carman Cooper. Fifthly, it is my will that all my just debt should be paid out of the proceeds of the crop now gathering by my executor and executrix hereinafter named. And the balance, should any remain, to be laid out at the discretion of my executor and executrix for the use of the plantation. Sixth and lastly, I appoint my son William Carman Cooper and my wife Nancy Cooper executor and executrix of this, my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of September 1835. Witness, Benjamin Shields, Ephraim Davenport, George S. Clark. Harrison Cooper {Seal}. John Weatherall, Clerk. The State of Mississippi, Claiborne County } I, John Wetherall, Clerk of the Probate Court in and for the county aforesaid, do hereby certify that the foregoing will of Harrison Cooper was duly proven in open court by the subscribing witnesses thereto, and admitted to record this, the 24th day of July A. D. 1837, and that [the] same is truly recorded. Given under my hand at Port Gibson this 24th July 1837. John Wetherall, Clerk, by S. Davis, Deputy Clerk.

The State of Mississippi, Claiborne County } I, James A. Gage, Clerk of the Probate Court in and for said Court, do hereby certify that the foregoing 2 pages contain a true and correct copy of the last will and testament of Harrison Cooper, deceased, as teh same now appears on record in my office in Will Book A, pages 352 and 353. Given under my hand and seal of office at Port Gibson on this 18th day of October A. D. 1852. James A. Gage, Clerk.
