The State of Texas,
County of Newton } Be it known that I, J. N. Depue of the
County of Newton, State of Texas, for and in consideration
of the sum of fourteen hundred dollars to me paid and
secured to be paid, do bargain, sell and convey unto J. W.
Depue of the County of Orange, state of aforesaid, three slaves,
to wit: one negro woman named Charity, about eighteen years
old, of dark complexion, and her two children, Vina, a
girl, about three years old, of dark complexion, and her infant
child, Hannah, about 6 months old, of dark complexion. And [all] slaves
for life. And I hereby covenant with the said J. W. Depue that
the said slaves are sound in body and mind. And I do furthermore
bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns
forever to warrant the title to said slaves. In testimony
whereof, I hereto subscribe my name this, the 19th day of June A. D. 1860.

County of Newton } Before me, the undersigned authority, personally
appeared J. N. Depue and acknowledged that he signed the
above bill of sale for the considerations and purposes therein
written. Witness, Friend R. McMahon, Clerk of the County Court
of Newton County. Given under my hand

19th day of June A. D. 1860.
