Thomas, do bind myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators to warrant and forever defend the title to the said Henry Moss, his heirs and assigns forever against the claim or claims of all persons whomsoever lawfully claiming ort to claim the same or any part thereof. The Republic of Texas, County of Jefferson } Know all men by these presents that I, Henry Moss of the State of Louisiana, one of the United States of North America, for and in consideration of the natural love and affection that I have and bear for my daughter Anna Thomas (formerly Anna Moss), now the wife Larkin H. Thomas of the County of Jefferson and Republic of Texas, have this day given, granted and conveyed unto the said Anna Thomas and to her heirs forever the following property,

to wit, one certain negro slave, aged about twenty-four years, by the name of Bob. Which said boy Bob I warrant to be sound and healthy and a slave for life. To have and to hold said slave as aforesaid to the said Anna Thomas, formerly Anna Moss, now wife of Larkin R. Thomas as aforesaid, and her heirs forever. I bind myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators to warrant and defend the title to the said Anna Thomas as aforesaid and her heirs and assigns against the claim or claims whatsoever. Republic of Texas, County of Jefferson } Know all men by these presents that [I], Zedekiah Edwards, am held and firmly bound unto Malcom S. McAlpin in the sum of six hundred dollars with interest from this date [in] good and lawful money of this republic. For the true payment of which, I bind myself, my heirs, assigns and legal representatives well and truly to be made to Malcom S. McAlpin, his assigns and legal representatives. The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above said Zedekiah Edwards shall deliver unto Malcom S. McAlpin six negroes, to wit, George, Mary, Edmond, Sary, Elizabeth, and Rose, on the payment of six hundred dollars with interest to the aforesaid Edwards by the aforesaid McAlpin, then the above obligation to be null and the bill of sale given to Edwards by McAlpin for said negroes to be null and void; otherwise [to] remain in full force and virtue in law.
