The undersigned do transfer the within bill of sale of a certain negro girl called Minerva, aged about eighteen years, and do relinquish all claims and right and title [to] the said negro to Joseph Rubarth, [his] heirs, executors, and assigns for the amount of six hundred dollars paid in hand. The Republic of Texas, County of Jefferson } Know all men by these present that I, William Myers of the County of Liberty, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars good and lawful money of the republic to me in hand paid by Mary Myers of Jefferson County and [said] Republic, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, I have this day bargained, sold, aliened, and conveyed all my right, title, claim, and interest of and to a certain negro girl named Marthy, of a dark color, aged about seventeen years, a slave for life, [and] warranted sound of body and mind. And further warrant and defend the same to said Mary Myers, her heirs and assigns forever against myself, my heirs, and assigns forever. The condition of the above bill of sale is this. That whereas said William Myers executed a note to said Mary Myers on the twenty-eighth day of October 1845 for three hundred and fifty dollars in gentle stock cattle, to be delivered in McGaffy's Prairie or where Mary Myers now lives, on or before the first day of July 1845.
