I hereby, in consideration of eight hundred dollars, bargain and sell to Abner Ashworth a certain negro man named Moses, black complexion, and aged twenty-two years, and a slave for life. I warrant the title of said negro to said Ashworth and his heirs forever. January 17, 1846. David Garner, Dave Johnson. Nathan Bonner. Republic of Texas, County of Jefferson } Personally appeared before the undersigned authority Dave Johnson, and being sworn in due form of law, says he saw Nathan Bonner sign, seal and deliver the same as his voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein contained and set forth. {Seal} Given under my hand and scroll for want of a seal of office this 21st day of January A. D. 1846. Alexander Calder, Clerk, County Court, Jefferson County. I certify the foregoing to be a true copy of the original bill of sale filed in my office for record January 21, A. D. 1846. The Republic of Texas, County of Jefferson } Know all men by these presents that I, James Netters of said county and republic, hath this 9th of December A. D. 1842 bargained, sold and delivered and do by these presents bargain, sell and deliver unto James Hoggatt, in consideration of the sum of two thousand dollars to me in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby by me acknowledged, the following named and described negroes (to wit): one negro man named Bob, aged about 30 years; Jacob, aged about 40 years; Geary, aged about 13 years; and Joiner, about 11 years old. And I do hereby warrant said negroes to be sound and slaves for life. And I do hereby warrant and defend the title of said negroes to the said James Hoggatt from the lawful titles and claims of myself and all other persons whatsoever. Given under my hand and scroll by way of seal this, the day and date above written. Signed, sealed and delivered for the purposes herein expressed. Test., F. W. Ogden, S. J. Goodman. Marble of the State of Mississippi, for and in the consideration of the sum of four hundred and twenty-five dollars to me in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained, sold and delivered unto Mrs. M. W. Baldridge of the Republic of Texas a certain negro girl named Malinda, aged about fifteen years. Which negro I warrant to be sound in body and mind and a slave for life.
