Know all men by these presents that I, Sutphen R. Marble of the State of Mississippi, for
and in the consideration of the sum of four hundred and twenty-five dollars to
me in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained,
sold and delivered unto Mrs. M. W. Baldridge of the Republic of
Texas a certain negro girl named Malinda, aged about fifteen years.
Which negro I warrant to be sound in body and mind and a slave
for life. Saturday, February 14th, 1846. Witness my hand and scrawl,
John S. Pratt, witness.

County of Jefferson } Personally appeared before the undersigned authority
J. W. Baldridge, subscribing witness to the foregoing bill
of sale, and after being sworn in due form of law, says he saw Sutphen R. Marble sign,
seal and deliver the same for the purposes therein contained and set [forth].

office this 16 day of July A. D. 1846.
