Mr. Robert E. Russell
Dear Sir:
I received yours of the 5th and assure you I was highly pleased with all the nice papers you so kindly sent me. I do admire your choice of readable papers for Ladies and your favorite story is well worth reading, but in justice to myself I fancy the Prussian Spy none as thrilling Romance. though all are charming and I feel obliged to you for many hours of pleasant pastime.
Mr Robert, I like long letters from friends and would like to comply with your request but I never write long letters so you must not think me wanting in friendship for such a small matter.

the very day he was married, nor did I know any thing of it untill five or six days after he was married I was from home then. Mag and I feel ourselves highly flattered to think you would think of us while At Mr Ochiltrees Special Dance. it is Mag's greatest delight to be at a ball. I have not had the pleasure of attending a Ball this season;
I gave your respect to the family and now have the pleasure of returning the family's respects to you and also to your Father's family;
I received the first papers you sent some time ago and found them interesting of those papers I liked "The Earl and the Out East" the last list I did not read them.
You say you are coming up soon so then you can hear all of the news for I can not write more but will promise to tell you all I can when you come. . .
Your Friend
