howl and constant unrestfulness, in short
he was a kicker. As time passed Chris
grew and waxed strong and his fath[er]
adored him as his white-haired boy. His
bright open contenance plainly fortold
a great future.

At the age of six he began his public
school career. Owing to his shyness his

character, even in his merry whistled
