To the Secretary of War
Great Brother
Having received Information at our Green Bay
Treaty held last season with our Brethren the Menonites[?] was but
Partially confirmed by our great Father the President we beg leave
to submit the following [memories ?] to you
Great Brother, the Opposition Party of the six Nations complained
of our fomer Treaty that the Country was too small - this Exten=
=sion of the Territory was there for me to please them which it [illegible]
a great measure did until information arrive of its partial con-

wished to go to Green Bay it [illegible] have been that they might have
had some profitable hunting during the winter - But this (say they)
will not be possible for [illegible] as we shall hardly be out of sight
of our own [illegible] before even tread on our Neighbour's heel - and their
objection is incorrect.
Great Brother. They also charged us with being deceivers because we told
Then we had our Great Brother's full consent to treaty with our Brethren

Great Brother - We can appeal to you in Evidence of our faithful
Friendship to the United States for whom we have often spilled our
blood - hope never to desert and we
feel [illegible] that could be once again the confidence and [illegible] among
our numerous Brethren of the best that we could also [illegible] them to
listen to you and rise with us when they should [illegible] your blood[illegible]
But Great Brother we are so far from gaining their friendship
that if things remain in the situation we do but lose it and they charge us
with deceiving them - it things remain thus can our Great Brother
Expect us to [illegible] our [illegible] to the West? not to metnion those who
have heretofore opposed - NO Great Brother we can never sit down
And smoke in peace with those who charge us with falsifying the
