1836 10 mo A Schooner was castaway on Smith Point belonging to Salem. Cargo mostly saved. The vessel was got over the Point into Maddeket {MADAKET] harbor & brought to toown & is gone home.

3rd 11 mo A very heavy gale from East to NE with an abundance of rain. The most of this month cold boisterous. Thermometer was down to 19 1/2 at one time & 22 at another tiem/

3rd 12 mo This morning moderate wind at SW. Many vessels left Port, some of which had been waitig from one to four weeks for a fair wind to leave.

On 22nd of last month a town meeting was held to take into consideration the managment of Quaise Asylum. There much dissatisfaction respecting the Quaise farm. A Committee was appointed to investigate the subject & report to an adjournment.

29th Met by adjournment, the Committee reported that the management was bad & required a new arrangement, that they found a great [WANT?] economy & industry. A Committee was appointed to procure a Practical farmer an a new overseer & co. at the ensuing annual meeting.

12.12 The weather since this month came in has mild and moderate. The wind has prevailed from NW to SW, generally with some frost, but not excessive. The markets are flush with varieties but very dear & dull sale for want of money. The great scarcity of money is very distressing with most people.
