Rebus

Silently, and white as pallid ghost
I come from the sky to rest on earth;
I come not along, but a numberless host
Share my airy dance with hourless mirth;
So softly we come that the listening ear,
The rustle our coming can never hear;
The school-boys shout is wild with glee,
And the school girls laugh sings out as free,
When far and wide, o'er the frozen ground,
Our pure little [fossils?], lie thickly around,
For well the mirthful youngsters know,
How merrily now, their time will go

Cut off my head and I'm a moment of time -
Stamp improvement on my restless wing -
Ever fluttering to pass from ye all,
Else my flight will leave a sting

Minus my head and then reverse me
And still another change appears;
A pleasant verb the letters form -
An active verb, whose action cheers,
Whose object, the earnest girl and boy,
So sure to gain, and to enjoy.
